The bomba heads are calfskin with the hair left on. They are rolled on a frame that is then stretched down with a wood ring over the body. The heads are tuned (stretched) with a lace work of leather strapping. Sliding leather rings tighten or loosen the head. This comes with two beaters. One with a pad for the drum head and one without a pad for the rim. Conventional drumsticks can also be used, but are not furnished. They come in various sizes and are best obtained from a local music store.
The Macedonian Tupan heads are goatskin stretched over the frame at each side. Drum sticks and vibrating rods are furnished.
Artwork of your choice can be applied or you can do it yourself (technique
description sent with the drum).
